Lead Software Engineer

In this role at Scrapingdog, you will have the opportunity to work directly with customers, troubleshoot issues, and provide effective solutions to ensure they derive value from our APIs quickly and smoothly convert into paid customers. You will also be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Scrapingdog's API layer using Node.js and Express, optimizing MongoDB-backed data models, and implementing various features to enhance performance and reliability. Additionally, you will collaborate with different teams to bring new features to life and evolve the architecture to support increased scale and usage. Key Responsibilities: - Work directly with customers to troubleshoot issues, provide solutions, and guide them in using APIs effectively - Design, build, and maintain Scrapingdog's API layer (Node.js, Express) - Optimize and scale MongoDB-backed data models for speed and reliability - Implement job queues, caching layers, and credit metering logic - Develop CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments - Deploy and manage services on DigitalOcean droplets - Improve monitoring, observability, and fault tolerance across the stack - Collaborate with infra, browser, and product teams to bring new features to life - Evolve the architecture to support 10x more scale and usage Qualifications: - 3+ years of experience building production-grade backend systems - Strong expertise in Node.js, Express, and MongoDB - Comfortable designing APIs and working across multiple services - Familiarity with Redis, job queues, rate limiting, and background task processing - Problem solver with the ability to work autonomously and drive projects end-to-end - Pragmatic, fast-moving, and motivated to work on a large-scale system - Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and translate technical solutions into clear guidance - Hands-on experience with automation tools like n8n or similar platforms At Scrapingdog, you will have the opportunity to work on a high-traffic SaaS product used by 10,000+ developers, collaborate directly with the founding team, enjoy a flexible work environment, and receive performance-based bonuses.,
