Lead Quality Control Engineer || Nexucon || Kolkata (WFO)

Position Summary

We are seeking a Lead Quality Control Engineer to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. You will be responsible for leading the QA team, planning test strategies, coordinating test activities across projects, and directly contributing to manual (and possibly automated) testing. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical and team management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

• Lead, mentor, and guide a team of QA/Test Engineers. • Define and implement quality control strategies, test plans, and best practices across the software development lifecycle. • Act as the primary QA representative in planning, sprint grooming, and release readiness meetings. • Drive improvements in test coverage, defect detection rate, and overall product quality.

Testing Execution

• Review and validate requirements, specifications, and technical design documents. • Create, review, and execute manual and/or automated test cases. • Perform various types of testing including: o Functional and regression testing o System and integration testing o UAT coordination o Smoke and sanity testing o Exploratory and ad-hoc testing

Defect Management

• Identify, log, and track defects with clear documentation and follow through to resolution. • Analyze test results, identify root causes, and work closely with development teams to resolve issues.

Team Collaboration

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product managers, developers, DevOps) to ensure smooth delivery pipelines and clear communication of quality status. • Assist in test environment setup and maintenance. • Ensure adherence to compliance, security, or regulatory requirements (as needed).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • 6+ years of experience in software testing, with 2+ years in a lead or senior role. • Solid experience with manual testing methodologies; familiarity with automation frameworks is a plus. • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. • Strong understanding of SDLC/STLC, QA best practices, and defect lifecycle.

• Proficiency in tools such as:

• Test management: TestRail, Zephyr, qTest, etc.
• Bug tracking: JIRA, Bugzilla, or similar.
• Documentation: Confluence, Google Docs, etc
