Lead Front End Developer

As a Lead Frontend Engineer at Two Circles, youll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sports through technology. Youll be at the forefront of building high-quality, scalable, and user-centric digital solutions for some of the biggest names in global sport from the NFL and Formula 1 to the Premier League and UEFA.

This is more than just a development role. Youll lead the frontend architecture and technical direction of key projects, influence decision-making at a strategic level, and mentor a growing team of engineers. You will collaborate closely with Engineering Managers, Product teams, and client stakeholders to bring to life engaging and performant digital experiences across web platforms.

LeadFrontend Engineer

Two Circles is a global sports agency. We drive growth for sports properties by delivering deeper connections with fans, through the intelligent use of data and technology.

We work with some of the worlds biggest sports organisations including the NFL, Premier League, Formula 1, AFL, Wimbledon and UEFA and have been named Sport Industry Agency of the Year on more than four occasions.

We are almost 1000 people, based out of 14 offices, and we deliver work for sports and entertainment businesses of all shapes and sizes all over the world

Data is at thecenterof our approach - helping clients to get a better understanding of their customers and deliver insights that influence top-level decision-making. From there, we develop digital products and integrate data and technology solutions that grow audiences and revenue across ticketing, participation, sponsorship and media.

As part of our ongoing growth, we are expanding our technical team and looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our office.

The chosen person will play an important role in influencing the rapidly growing Two Circles technology proposition and will be responsible for technical seniority, supporting technology consulting projects, identifying and advising on appropriate solutions for our clients.

You will have a track record of designing and delivering high-quality digital solutions over the last 7+ years and have a keen interest in the application of technology in the sports industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Write clean, and reusable code following best practices whilst helping to define coding standards and team conventions.
• Be an advocate for developer experience and have a keen interest in continually improving it.
• Encouraging a blameless culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
• Leading and influencing the technical design, architecture and development of digital projects.
• Work closely with Engineering Managers, Engineering Leads and Product Managers to understand problems and define technical scope for global sports properties.
• Setting up software development frameworks for release management, automation, code quality and source control.
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to other Two Circles engineers.
• Keeping up to date on emerging technologies and trends in sports technology.
• Presence in our office for 2 days a week is encouraged for this role and occasional travel to other offices in London and EMEA will be required at times

Requirements:

• A minimum of 5+years experiencein software engineering.
• A high level of proficiency and understanding in TypeScript, React and Next.js with experience in Node.js desirable.
• Experience in a CI / CD environment where you have utilised tools such as Circle CI, GitHub actions or Azure DevOps etc.
• An appreciation of DevOps and platform engineering culture. You don't just write code, but you also like to build and ship it, utilising cloud platforms and services, such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Experience in agile development practices, continuous integration and test automation via various methods such as unit, integration, contract and E2E testing.
• You have a high degree of experience in observing the performance and health of applications via tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Data Dog, Sentry, etc.
• You have a strong desire and are an advocate for performant applications.
• Proactive in solving problems simply and effectively, with an eye for pragmatic solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences to explain your solutions and collaborate effectively with others.
• Experience building services for high traffic systems is desirable
