Job Description

Job Summary

Lead E&I Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the technical integrity of Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) activities, producing and maintaining deliverables in line with industry standards, codes, and client specifications. The role includes overseeing E&I tasks, managing resources, and ensuring projects are delivered within schedule and budget under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement E&I engineering activities on projects and tenders in coordination with the Engineering Manager.
  • Lead, coordinate, and manage the E&I discipline group to ensure the effective and successful implementation of engineering projects.
  • Mentor, coach, and train staff on work processes and values to maintain consistency across all projects.
  • Review and approve E&I specifications, datasheets, sizing calculations (load, equipment), Single Line Diagrams (SLD), schematics, and functional/interlock diagrams.
  • Review and approve material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor drawings.
  • Participate in HAZOP, SIL, 3D model, construction, and design reviews.
  • Review and approve materials take-offs and bills of materials, ensuring quantities are within budget, and document any changes with approval from the Engineering Manager/Project Manager.
  • Raise any quality, deadline, or cost concerns to the appropriate parties for resolution.
  • Conduct regular technical, procedural, and operational meetings with staff to identify and address areas for improvement.
  • Standardize design procedures, checklists, and guidelines to ensure uniformity across projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • 10-13 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry or related sectors.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of electrical system design with experience in interfacing with other disciplines (process, piping, mechanical, etc.).
  • Familiarity with HAZOP, functional safety, and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) reviews.
  • Working knowledge of industry codes and standards.
  • Experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and industrial best practices.
  • Ability to manage engineering documentation, from specifications to vendor approvals.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing discipline groups.
  • Knowledge of modern engineering tools and techniques.
  • Experience in modular construction and oil and gas projects.
