Job Description

As a Laboratory Assistant in the Science Department at SRMPS, your role will involve supporting the Science Department by conducting practical sessions and maintaining laboratory equipment and materials for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology labs. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that the labs are safe, clean, well-stocked, and fully operational for student use. Your responsibilities will include assisting teachers in demonstrating scientific concepts through experiments, maintaining compliance with safety standards, and providing support to students and staff. Additionally, you will be responsible for laboratory preparation, safety and compliance, inventory management, equipment maintenance, record keeping, and ensuring compliance with school policies. **Key Responsibilities:** - Laboratory Preparation and Support - Safety and Compliance - Inventory Management - Maintenance of Equipment - Record Keeping and Documentation - Student and Staff Support - Laboratory Organization - Compliance with School Policies **Qualifications and Experience:** - Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution. - Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant experience working in a school or educational laboratory is preferred but not mandatory for freshers with strong technical skills. **Skills and Attributes:** - Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment and experimental procedures. - Basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills for lab instruments. - Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and organization. - Good communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple responsibilities. - Familiarity with safety protocols and hazard handling in a laboratory environment. In terms of the work environment, you will primarily be based in school science laboratories with exposure to chemicals, biological specimens, and electrical equipment. The role may also involve occasional lifting of lab equipment and supplies. Working hours for this full-time position are from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
