As a Science Lab Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting science teachers and students by preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, materials, and ensuring a safe learning environment. Your responsibilities will include: Laboratory Preparation and Maintenance: - Setting up equipment, materials, and chemicals for science experiments across disciplines such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. - Cleaning and clearing equipment after use to maintain a tidy and organized lab space. - Ensuring that all laboratory apparatus is in good working condition for practical lessons. Health and Safety: - Adhering to and enforcing health and safety procedures and COSHH regulations to promote a secure environment. - Safely storing chemicals and hazardous materials. - Upholding cleanliness and hygiene standards in the lab area. - Promptly reporting any safety concerns or malfunctioning equipment. Stock and Inventory Management: - Monitoring stock levels of laboratory materials and chemicals. - Ordering necessary supplies in coordination with the science department. - Maintaining accurate records of inventory and usage for effective management. Support for Teachers and Students: - Assisting teachers during practical sessions as required. - Providing guidance to students on the proper use of laboratory equipment. - Setting up demonstrations and displays to enrich the learning experience. Administrative Tasks: - Keeping precise records of experiments, chemical usage, and safety checks. - Contributing to the creation of lab schedules and documentation related to experiments and risk assessments.
