We are looking for a skilled and proactive IT Manager to oversee, manage, and maintain a distributed and modern IT infrastructure that supports public engagement, research, education, and administrative activities across our multi-floor facility. The role involves managing open-source and enterprise-grade tools and systems with a strong focus on uptime, scalability, security, and user support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network and IT Infrastructure Management
Configure and manage Layer 2/3 managed switches (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, HP, Netgear ProSAFE, or Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch).
VLAN segmentation, link aggregation (LACP), STP/RSTP, and QoS configuration.
Oversee fiber terminations, structured cabling, and patch panel management.
Configure and manage enterprise-grade Wi-Fi controllers and access points (brands like Ubiquiti UniFi, Ruckus, Aruba, or Cisco Meraki).
Maintain high-performance visitor and staff Wi-Fi zones.
2. Firewall and Network Security
Deploy and maintain open-source firewalls such as pfSense, OPNsense, Untangle NG Firewall, or IPFire.
Optionally manage branded solutions like FortiGate, SonicWall, or Cisco ASA.
Configure firewall rules, VPNs, NAT, DMZs, and intrusion detection/prevention (Suricata, Snort).
3. Server, Storage NOC Management
Administer on-premises servers (Linux/Windows-based).
Manage Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions such as Synology, QNAP, or Dell EMC.
Monitor uptime, hardware health, and logs from NOC room.
Automate backups and disaster recovery.
4. End-User Device Management
Maintain Windows laptops, desktops, MacBooks, A/V devices, TVs, and projectors.
Implement patch management, antivirus, endpoint security, and helpdesk resolution.
5. Cloud & Virtualization Expertise
AWS:
o Manage EC2, S3, IAM roles, VPC, CloudWatch, Route 53.
o Experience with hybrid deployments, VPN tunnels, and backups.
Microsoft Azure:
o Configure Azure VMs, Blob Storage, Active Directory, and monitoring.
o Integration with on-prem IT and authentication services.
Familiarity with cloud-based email and collaboration suites (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
6. Web and Digital Asset Management
Coordinate and manage SGB s website with content teams and developers.
Oversee hosting, domain management, SSL certificates, CDN usage, and analytics integration.
7. Vendor & Process Management
Liaise with ISPs, AMC providers, and IT hardware/software vendors.
Conduct vendor evaluations, negotiate service contracts, and ensure SLAs are met.
Assist in developing an annual IT budget, establish operating priorities, and monitor expenses.
Manage the procurement, installation, and maintenance of software and hardware.
Complete assigned IT and AV projects, ensuring alignment with the museum s strategic goals.
Develop and implement the museum s IT cybersecurity plan in consultation with SGB leadership.
8. Audio-Visual Systems Management
Configure and maintain AV equipment including projectors, microphones, displays, and conferencing systems across meeting rooms, exhibition halls, and public labs.
Support live streaming and recording setups for events and programs, ensuring seamless integration with network and cloud storage systems.
Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to set up and troubleshoot AV systems for exhibitions, workshops, and hybrid events.
Manage software and hardware for video conferencing (e.g., Zoom, OBS, YouTube Live), and ensure compatibility across platforms and devices.
9. Compliance and Documentation
Ensure all IT and AV systems comply with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
Maintain accurate documentation of systems, procedures, and policies.
Create, implement, and conduct a procedure for regular audits and assessments of IT/AV systems to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline.
Minimum 5 7 years of proven experience in managing full-spectrum IT infrastructure.
Certifications like CCNA, RHCE, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate are desirable.
