Job Description

Job Specification: IT Manager Hospital

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Computer Application (required)
  • Masters Computer Application (preferred)
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CISM, CISSP, ITIL, CHIT) are a plus

Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in IT management, preferably in a healthcare environment
  • Experience with hospital systems such as EHR, PACS, RIS, LIS, and HIS
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and IT projects

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of networking, servers, virtualization, and cloud computing
  • Proficiency in managing EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech)
  • Understanding of interoperability protocols (HL7, FHIR)
  • Familiarity with data protection regulations (HIPAA, GDPR)
  • Knowledge of database systems (SQL, Oracle)

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencie

Key Responsibilities

1. IT Operations & Infrastructure

  • Oversee the daily operations of IT systems, including servers, networks, and clinical software
  • Ensure high system availability and performance.
  • Manage data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.

2. Health Information Systems

  • Implement and maintain Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other clinical systems.
  • Ensure integration between hospital departments using standards like HL7 or FHIR.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to optimize IT for patient care delivery.

3. Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Enforce cybersecurity best practices across the hospital
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.

4. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, train, and mentor IT team members.
  • Allocate resources and prioritize IT support and development tasks.
  • Evaluate performance and facilitate professional development.

5. Vendor & Budget Management

  • Manage vendor relationships for hardware, software, and service contracts.
  • Develop and monitor the IT department budget.
  • Oversee procurement of IT equipment and services.

6. Project Management

  • Lead IT projects (e.g., EHR upgrades, system integrations).
  • Coordinate with departments and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects meet scope, budget, and timeline expectations.
