Inventory Manager Roles & Responsibilities

1. Inventory Planning & Stock Management

• Maintain

  accurate stock levels

  of all raw materials, packing materials, and finished goods.
• Set and monitor

  Minimum Stock Levels (MSL)

  for each item to avoid stock-outs.
• Plan inventory requirements based on

  daily production plans

  , sales forecasts, and seasonal demand.
• Conduct

  ABC analysis

  and maintain proper categorization (fast-moving / slow-moving / critical items).

2. Raw Material Issue & Consumption Control

• Ensure

  timely issuance

  of raw materials to production as per batch sheets.
• Track

  daily RM consumption

  and compare it with standard formulation to identify variances.
• Maintain detailed

  RM inward, outward, and balance

  records.
• Ensure

  FIFO / FEFO

  practices for all materials.

3. GRN, Purchase & Vendor Coordination

• Verify incoming materials, quality, weight, and documentation before generating

  GRN (Goods Receipt Note)

  .
• Coordinate with the Purchase team for

  re-ordering, shortages, urgent materials

  , and vendor follow-up.
• Maintain ledgers for vendor supplies and batch-wise raw material usage.
  

4. Stores & Warehouse Management

• Organize the warehouse properly for

  easy identification and retrieval

  of materials.
• Ensure proper stacking, binning, labeling, and storage conditions.
  
• Conduct

  weekly and monthly physical stock counts

  and reconcile with system stock.
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and fire-compliance inside the stores area.
  

5. Finished Goods (FG) Inventory

• Track

  daily production output

  and update FG stock records.
• Coordinate with dispatch for

  loading planning, vehicle allocation, and order fulfillment

  .
• Ensure correct

  batch numbers, MRP, expiry dates

  on ready goods before dispatch.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain all store documents:

  GRNs, RM issue slips, stock registers, MIS reports, inward–outward slips

  .
• Prepare daily MIS reports on

  stock levels, shortages, consumption variances, rejected goods

  , etc.
• Provide weekly & monthly stock summaries to management.
  

7. Cost & Calculation Skills

• Strong ability to calculate

  RM consumption, batch costing, WIP stock, wastage %, yield %

  , etc.
• Monitor

  inventory carrying cost, damage/loss cost, overstocking cost

  , etc.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities in inventory operations.
  

8. Coordination & Compliance

• Coordinate with

  Production, QC, Dispatch, and Purchase

  for smooth factory operations.
• Ensure compliance with

  ISO, safety, chemical handling, and audit requirements

  .
• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate stock records.
  

Key Skills Required

• Excellent

  mathematical & analytical

• Experience in

  manufacturing, paint/chemical industry preferred

• Proficiency in

  Excel, ERP, stock management tools

• Knowledge of

  FIFO, FSN/ABC analysis, GRN, batch control

• Good communication and team coordination
