IMS Developer

Experience:

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced

IMS Developer

to support a strategic

IMS to DB2 migration initiative

. The role involves analyzing legacy IMS applications and databases and implementing solutions using

COBOL programs, mainframe utilities, and DB2 technologies

. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in both IMS DB and DB2 environments and hands-on experience in

data and application migration

Key Responsibilities

Analyze existing IMS DBDs, Segments, Indexes, and data structures.
Generate DDL from IMS segments and indexes for DB2 migration.
Collaborate with DBAs and system architects to define DB2 schemas and create DB2 tables.
Develop and modify COBOL programs to support ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
Utilize mainframe utilities such as FILE-AID, DFSORT, IDCAMS, IEBCOPY, and IBM DB2 Load/Unload for data migration.
Ensure strong knowledge and hands-on expertise in COBOL, JCL, IMS DB, DB2, and mainframe utilities.
Work with DBAs and architects to optimize database performance.
Perform unit testing, integration testing, and data validation post-migration.
Document migration processes, mappings, and technical specifications.
Provide support during cutover and post-migration stabilization phases.
Apply excellent problem-solving and debugging skills to resolve migration issues.
Maintain strong communication and documentation abilities for effective stakeholder interaction.
