Role Overview

The Identity & Access Management (IAM) Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure identity solutions using Microsoft Entra ID and/or Okta. The role ensures secure user lifecycle management, access governance, authentication, authorization, and compliance across cloud and hybrid environments.

This role collaborates closely with Security, IT Operations, HR, and Application Teams to implement Zero Trust principles, mitigate identity-related risks, and enhance user experience.

Key Responsibilities

Identity & Access Management

• Design, implement, and manage IAM solutions using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and/or Okta.
• Administer User Lifecycle Management (JoinerMoverLeaver processes).
• Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Segregation of Duties, and least privilege access models.
• Manage Identity Federation and Directory Synchronization for hybrid environments.

Authentication & Authorization

• Configure and manage Single Sign-On (SSO) using SAML, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect.
• Implement and enforce Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Conditional Access policies.
• Implement and manage emergency (break-glass) access controls and audit logging
• Integrate IAM with SaaS, cloud, and on-premises applications.

Access Governance & Compliance

• Implement access reviews, entitlement management, and privileged identity management (PIM).
• Support SOX, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, and internal audit requirements.
• Support Audit Evidence & Traceability requirements.
• Monitor identity risks and remediate excessive or unused access.

Privileged Access Management

• Configure and manage Privileged Identity Management (PIM) in Microsoft Entra ID.
• Enforce just-in-time (JIT) access for privileged roles.
• Review and monitor admin activities and audit logs.

Security Monitoring & Incident Support

• Monitor identity-related security alerts and logs.
• Support incident response for identity breaches, account compromise, and access violations.
• Integrate IAM logs with SIEM tools (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel).

Automation & Optimization

• Automate IAM workflows using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph API, Okta Workflows, or similar tools.
• Improve operational efficiency and user experience through automation and standardization.
• Document IAM processes, policies, and standard operating procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
• Strong hands-on experience with Okta Identity Cloud.
• Expertise in SSO, MFA, Conditional Access, and identity federation.
• Experience with SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and SCIM APIs.
• Experience managing hybrid identity (on-prem AD + cloud).
• Working knowledge of Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
• Experience integrating IAM with SaaS applications (O365, Salesforce, ServiceNow, etc.).
• Scripting experience using PowerShell and/or REST APIs.

Security & Compliance

• Understanding of Zero Trust architecture and IAM security best practices.
• Knowledge of identity threat detection and access risk management.
• Experience supporting security audits and compliance requirements.

Experience & Education

• 4 to 7 years of experience in Identity & Access Management / Cybersecurity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (preferred).

Preferred Certifications

• Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
• Okta Certified Professional / Administrator
• Azure Security Engineer Associate
• CISSP / CISM (added advantage)
