Icu Staff Nurse

Job Summary:

The ICU Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. The nurse monitors vital signs, administers medications, assists doctors during procedures, and ensures patient safety and comfort through continuous observation and care.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care:

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients.
  
• Monitor and record vital signs, oxygen saturation, ECG, intake and output, etc.
  
• Administer medications and IV infusions as prescribed.
  
• Maintain airway management and assist with ventilator care.
  
• Perform suctioning, catheterization, and dressing as required.
  
• Maintain strict aseptic precautions to prevent infections.
  
• Assess patient conditions continuously and inform the physician of any critical changes.
  

2. Equipment Handling:

• Operate and monitor ICU equipment such as ventilators, defibrillators, infusion pumps, monitors, and syringe pumps.
  
• Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and report any malfunctions immediately.
  
• Maintain emergency crash cart and check expiry of drugs regularly.
  

3. Documentation:

• Maintain accurate and timely nursing notes, medication records, and patient charts.
  
• Record all observations, procedures, and nursing interventions.
  
• Assist in transfer and discharge documentation.
  

4. Emergency Care:

• Respond promptly to medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, or shock.
  
• Participate in Code Blue procedures and assist during resuscitation.
  

5. Coordination & Communication:

• Communicate effectively with doctors, other nurses, and support staff.
  
• Educate patients family regarding condition, procedures, and care instructions (as per hospital policy).
  
• Participate in patient handover during shift changes.
  

6. Infection Control & Safety:

• Follow infection control protocols and standard precautions at all times.
  
• Dispose biomedical waste as per guidelines.
  
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the ICU.
  

7. Professional Development:

• Participate in ongoing training programs and skill development.
  
• Keep updated on latest ICU nursing practices and technology.
  

Job Summary:

The ER Staff Nurse is responsible for providing prompt, efficient, and high-quality nursing care to patients arriving in the Emergency Department. The nurse assists in triage, assessment, treatment, stabilization, and transfer or admission of patients with urgent and emergent health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform

  triage

  and prioritize patients based on severity of condition.
• Provide

  immediate nursing care

  for trauma, cardiac arrest, stroke, poisoning, and other emergencies.
• Monitor and record patients

  vital signs

  , symptoms, and response to treatment.
• Administer

  medications, IV fluids, and injections

  as prescribed.
• Assist doctors during

  emergency procedures

  (CPR, intubation, suturing, wound dressing, etc.).
• Maintain

  emergency equipment

  (defibrillator, suction, monitors, crash cart) in ready condition.
• Prepare and shift patients for

  diagnostic tests or ICU/admission

  as required.
• Ensure

  infection control and aseptic practices

  at all times.
• Provide

  emotional support

  to patients and their families during crisis situations.
• Document

  nursing notes, assessments, and interventions

  accurately in patient records.
• Participate in

  disaster preparedness drills

  and hospital emergency protocols.
• Coordinate with the

  multidisciplinary team

  for smooth patient care.
