Icu Staff Nurse

• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators.
  
• Use monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, dialysis machines.
  
• Maintain accurate calibration and hygiene of equipment.

  Role & responsibilities

• Continuously monitor vital signs (BP, HR, RR, SpO, Temp).
  
• Assess neurological status, pain level, and level of consciousness (GCS).
  
• Identify early signs of patient deterioration and report immediately.
  
• Monitor intake/output, urine output, drains, and catheters.

• Work closely with doctors, respiratory therapists, dietitians, and other staff.
  
• Participate in rounds and handovers.
  
• Ensure smooth transfer of patients between departments.

• Assist patients with hygiene, repositioning, feeding (NG feeds if applicable).
  
• Prevent pressure sores and ensure safe positioning.
  
• Perform tracheostomy care, oral care, and suctioning.
  
• Manage catheters, drains, and PEG tubes.

Preferred candidate profile

• Attend training on ICU protocols, equipment, and emergency care.
  
• Update knowledge of new treatments, guidelines, and safety practices.

• Educate families about patient condition, procedures, and care plans (as allowed by policy).
  
• Provide emotional support to patients and families.
  
• Maintain confidentiality and dignity of patients.

• Maintain accurate patient records, nursing notes, and medication charts.
  
• Document changes in condition and actions taken.
  
• Communicate with doctors, physiotherapists, and other healthcare team members.

• Follow strict aseptic techniques.
  
• Implement isolation precautions as needed.
  
• Ensure proper hand hygiene and PPE usage.
  
• Follow biomedical waste management protocols.

• Respond immediately to cardiac arrest and follow ACLS/BLS protocols.
  
• Assist in intubation, emergency procedures, and resuscitation.
  
• Maintain crash cart readiness.

• Administer IV, IM, subcutaneous medications safely.
  
• Handle high-alert medications (inotropes, vasopressors, sedatives).
  
• Manage infusion pumps, syringe pumps, and drug titration.
  
• Perform and assist with procedures (ABG collection, wound dressing, suctioning).
