Job Description

As a Hydraulic Engineer at the ferrous shredder plant, your role will involve ensuring the smooth, safe, and reliable operation of all hydraulic systems. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, system optimization, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment uptime and plant productivity. Key Responsibilities: - Maintenance & Troubleshooting: - Perform diagnostic checks, troubleshooting, and repair of hydraulic systems in shredders, conveyors, feeders, and other equipment. - Identify root causes of hydraulic failures such as pressure loss, leakage, overheating, contamination, valve malfunction, and pump failures. - Regularly inspect hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, hoses, accumulators, filters, and fittings. - Respond promptly to breakdowns with quick fault identification and restoration. - Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: - Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all hydraulic systems. - Monitor hydraulic oil quality, pressure settings, temperature, flow characteristics, and contamination levels. - Maintain detailed logs for oil changes, filter replacements, and system overhauls. - Ensure the health of cooling units, lubrication systems, and pressure relief systems. - Safety & Compliance: - Ensure adherence to safety standards related to hydraulic equipment operation and maintenance. - Conduct risk assessments of hydraulic systems and implement necessary corrective actions. - Maintain compliance with ISO, OSHA, and plant-specific safety guidelines. - Documentation & Reporting: - Interpret hydraulic drawings, schematics, and technical manuals effectively. - Maintain comprehensive documentation of hydraulic system parameters, maintenance records, and service logs. - Coordinate with vendors/contractors for hydraulic parts, system upgrades, or service visits. - Team Coordination: - Train technicians on hydraulic maintenance best practices. - Collaborate closely with the electrical, mechanical, and operations teams for well-coordinated execution of maintenance activities. Qualification Required: - Diploma / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or related field. - 5-10 years of experience in hydraulic maintenance, preferably in a ferrous shredder plant, heavy machinery, steel, recycling, mining, or similar industrial environment. Your skills and competencies should include: - Strong knowledge of industrial hydraulic systems with high-pressure and large capacity. - Experience with hydraulic pumps, proportional valves, servo valves, accumulators, and filtration systems. - Ability to read and interpret hydraulic circuits, P&ID, and equipment manuals. - Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. - Understanding of PLC-controlled hydraulic systems (preferred). - Knowledge of safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures.,
