Job Description

Job Summary

The HR Manager will oversee all human resources operations for the dealership, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, payroll coordination, employee relations, compliance, and training. This role ensures that the dealership maintains a productive, positive, and legally compliant work environment while supporting the needs of various departments such as Sales, Service, Parts, Finance, and Administration.

Key Responsibilities

1. Recruitment & Staffing

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for sales consultants, service advisors, technicians, admin staff, drivers, and other dealership roles.
  • Coordinate job postings, resume screening, interviews, and reference checks.
  • Build a talent pipeline to reduce time-to-hire for high-turnover roles.

2. Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Develop and manage structured onboarding programs tailored for dealership departments.
  • Ensure proper documentation, orientation, and role-specific training.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover trends.

3. Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, conflicts, and grievances.
  • Foster a positive work environment through engagement activities and transparent communication.
  • Implement reward and recognition programs to boost morale and performance.

4. Performance Management

  • Coordinate annual and quarterly performance appraisal cycles.
  • Work with department heads (Sales, Service, etc.) to develop KPIs and improvement plans.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate skill development initiatives.

5. HR Compliance & Administration

  • Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and statutory documents.
  • Ensure adherence to labor laws, safety compliance, and dealership policies.
  • Oversee attendance, leave management, and timekeeping systems.

6. Payroll Coordination

  • Work with finance or payroll teams to ensure timely and accurate salary processing.
  • Manage incentives, commissions, overtime, and statutory deductions.

7. Training & Development

  • Organize regular training programs (customer service, sales techniques, product knowledge, etc.).
  • Conduct compliance and policy training for all employees.

8. Organizational Development

  • Improve HR processes and implement best practices suited for dealership operations.
  • Support senior management in manpower planning and organizational restructuring.

Statutory & Legal Compliance

  • Ensure 100% compliance with all labor laws and statutory requirements such as PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Gratuity, Shops & Establishment Act, Bonus Act, and Minimum Wages Act (as applicable in the region).
  • Ensure timely filing of statutory returns and maintain all compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate with auditors, government authorities, and compliance consultants during inspections and audits.
  • Maintain compliance for contract labor, dealership workshops, and outsourced staff.
  • Monitor workplace safety standards and ensure compliance with health & safety regulations.
  • Implement and update HR policies in line with legal guidelines and dealership standards.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • MBA/PGDM in HR preferred.

Experience

  • 510 years of HR experience, preferably in an automobile dealership or retail/service industry.
  • Experience handling technician and sales staff HR cycles is a plus.

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of labor laws and statutory compliance
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple departments with diverse roles
  • Problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills
