Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable Server Technician to join our team on a contract basis for urgent, on-demand server support services. This is a home-based position designed for experienced professionals who can respond quickly to critical server issues and provide expert technical solutions when problems arise. The role operates on an as-needed basis, requiring immediate availability during server emergencies and technical crises.

• Respond to urgent server issues and emergencies within specified time frames
• Troubleshoot and resolve server problems remotely using appropriate diagnostic tools
• Perform comprehensive system diagnostics and execute necessary repairs
• Provide expert technical support during critical business situations
• Maintain server uptime and optimize system performance
• Document all service calls, resolutions, and recommendations for future reference
• Collaborate with internal teams to prevent recurring issues
• Provide status updates and progress reports during extended troubleshooting sessions

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in server administration and maintenance (minimum 3-5 years)
• Strong knowledge of server operating systems (Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Linux distributions)
• Extensive experience with network troubleshooting and connectivity issues
• Demonstrated ability to work independently from home with minimal supervision
• Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking capabilities
• Available for emergency calls on short notice, including evenings and weekends
• Relevant technical certifications (CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified, Cisco, VMware, etc.)
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
• Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery procedures
• Strong communication skills for providing clear technical explanations
• Reliable high-speed internet connection and dedicated workspace

Working Arrangement

• Home-based/remote position with flexible working environment
• Contract basis - compensation paid per service call or project completion
• On-call availability required during business hours and emergency situations
• Must respond to urgent requests promptly (typically within 30 minutes)
• Flexible schedule based on business needs and service requirements
• Possibility of scheduling routine maintenance during off-peak hours
• No fixed working hours - work volume depends on system issues and maintenance needs

Compensation Structure

• Competitive contract rates based on experience and expertise level
• Payment structure: per service call, hourly rate, or project-based compensation
• Premium rates for emergency response calls outside business hours
• Additional compensation for complex troubleshooting and system recovery projects
• Invoicing and payment terms to be discussed during the interview process

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Knowledge of database administration (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle)
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and system performance analysis
• Understanding of security protocols and compliance requirements
• Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python)

ITS A NEW SERVER SO NOT MUCH ON SITE REQUIRED, BUT MAIN CONDITION IS THAT YOU HAVE TO GO OR FINISH AT YOUR HOME WITH IN ONE HOUR OF THE PROBLEM.
