Job Description

Role Overview

The Healthcare Annotator (Radiology Imaging) is responsible for accurately labeling medical imaging datasets such as X-ray, CT, MRI, and ultrasound. The role ensures high-quality annotations by interpreting imaging patterns, identifying key anatomical structures, and applying clinical labeling guidelines to support AI/ML model development.

Key Responsibilities

1. Radiology Image Annotation

  • Annotate radiology images (X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound) following project guidelines and clinical standards.
  • Label organs, anatomical structures, and relevant findings such as nodules, fractures, opacities, lesions, and other abnormalities.
  • Apply annotation techniques like classification, tagging, bounding boxes, segmentation, and ROI marking.
  • Perform slice-level annotation for CT/MRI datasets where required.

2. Quality & Review Support

  • Perform self-audits to ensure accuracy before submitting work.
  • Make corrections based on feedback from reviewers or SMEs.
  • Escalate ambiguous or complex cases for clarification.

3. Tools & Technical Skills

Experience with or ability to work on:

  • RedBrick AI

  • OHIF Viewer

  • RadiAnt DICOM Viewer

  • 3D Slicer (basic functions)

  • Labelbox / CVAT / V7 tools

    for medical annotation (bounding box, segmentation)

4. Workflow & Data Handling

  • Follow defined SOPs, annotation manuals, naming standards, and versioning guidelines.
  • Maintain secure handling of medical imaging datasets and comply with confidentiality requirements.
  • Update annotation logs and trackers as required.

5. Collaboration

  • Work with team leads, QA reviewers, and SMEs for guideline clarifications.
  • Attend refresher training sessions to stay updated with project changes.
  • Provide constructive feedback on guideline improvements when necessary.

Skills & Competencies

  • Solid understanding of radiology imaging concepts and human anatomy.
  • Familiarity with key radiology terms such as lesion, consolidation, pleural effusion, mass, tumor, fracture, and opacity types.
  • High attention to detail and strong visual interpretation ability.
  • Ability to follow structured medical annotation guidelines consistently.
  • Comfortable working on grayscale and multi-slice imaging data.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors

    in one of the following or related fields:
    • Radiology / Medical Imaging Technology
    • Biomedical Engineering
    • Life Sciences / Health Sciences
    • Biotechnology
    • Nursing or Allied Health Programs
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience

    in medical annotation, radiology imaging handling, diagnostic imaging workflows, or healthcare AI environments.
  • Prior experience with DICOM tools and radiology annotation projects is strongly preferred.
