Head Orthoptist South Glasgow

You will be joining NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK. As part of the Orthoptic service, you will have the opportunity to manage a team of 15 Band 6/Band 7 orthoptists and 1 orthoptic assistant. The role is 50-60% clinical with a varied and complex caseload. Your responsibilities will include managing the Orthoptic service, contributing to workforce and strategic planning, and working at an advanced clinical level within sub-specialty services. **Key Responsibilities:** - Manage a team of 15 Band 6/Band 7 orthoptists and 1 orthoptic assistant - Contribute to workforce and strategic planning - Work at an advanced clinical level within sub-specialty services - Act as a mentor and role model to the team - Provide leadership and governance to the Orthoptic service - Ensure high-quality practice placements - Demonstrate an innovative approach to service development and quality improvement **Qualifications Required:** - Hold a degree or diploma in Orthoptics and be HCPC registered with exemptions for Orthoptists - Have a minimum of 10 years clinical experience of working with a varied adult and pediatric caseload - Experience of working at an advanced level within one sub-specialty area - Appropriate training and experience of line management & leadership of a diverse team - Advanced communication skills and empathy - Relevant audit/research experience - Documented evidence of up-to-date CPD - Must have a valid UK Drivers license If you are interested in this position, please contact Liza Campbell, CSM Ophthalmology at Liza.campbell@ggc.scot.nhs.uk.
