Head Mechanical Maintenance

Role & responsibilities

Mechanical Maintenance Oversight:

• Comprehensive maintenance of:
• Turbo-generators and auxiliaries
• Boilers and auxiliaries
• Cooling water pumps and systems
• Boiler feedwater pumps
• Cooling towers
• Raw Water and Intake Pump Houses
• DM & PT Plants
• Fuel Oil Pump House
• Ash Handling Systems
• A/C and Ventilation systems
• Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)

Turbine Revamping Projects:

• Lead and execute revamping projects of turbines.
• Plan and manage overhauls, retrofits, and efficiency upgrades.

Maintenance Planning & Execution:

• Develop and implement robust

  Preventive

  Predictive

  Shutdown Maintenance

  strategies.
• Ensure high equipment availability and reliability.
• Root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement corrective actions.

Spares & Vendor Development:

• Strategic planning for critical and regular spares to minimize downtime.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors for parts and services.
• Lead indigenization and cost-saving initiatives.

Contract Management:

• Finalization and administration of maintenance-related contracts.
• Monitor contractor performance and adherence to safety, quality, and timelines.

Team Leadership & People Development:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a large team of engineers and technicians.
• Organize training and skill development programs.
• Build a high-performance, motivated maintenance team culture.

Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure strict implementation of safety norms and accident-free operations.
• Promote a safety-first culture through regular safety audits, training, and compliance checks.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies for statutory compliance and inspections.

Preferred candidate profile

• In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems in large thermal power plants.
• Expertise in turbine technology, boiler operations, pumps, and water treatment systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Proven experience in project management, spares strategy, and vendor negotiation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and maintenance planning software.
