Position Overview

The Head of Lab Grown Diamonds will lead the complete operations, strategy, and growth of the Lab Grown Diamond (LGD) division. This role oversees production planning, technology development, quality standards, cost optimization, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of CVD/HPHT processes, diamond growth challenges, and end-to-end lab-grown diamond manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement strategies to scale LGD production (CVD/HPHT).
  
• Identify new growth opportunities, technologies, and market trends.
  
• Collaborate with senior leadership on long-term planning and capacity expansion.
  

2. Operational Management

• Lead day-to-day operations of reactors, planning, sawing, polishing, and quality control.
  
• Optimize production cycles, uptime, and yield for maximum efficiency.
  
• Monitor equipment performance and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
  

3. Technical Expertise

• Oversee CVD/HPHT processes, recipe development, and troubleshooting.
  
• Work closely with R&D teams to improve crystal quality, color, size, and growth rates.
  
• Drive innovation in diamond growth, seed preparation, and post-growth treatments.
  

4. Quality Management

• Ensure adherence to industry quality standards (IGI / GIA / internal QC).
  
• Implement strict quality check systems across every stage of production.
  
• Reduce defect rates and enhance product consistency.
  

5. Financial & Cost Control

• Develop budgets and monitor cost efficiency across production lines.
  
• Optimize resource utilisation (power, gases, consumables, seeds, etc.).
  
• Evaluate vendors, negotiate contracts, and control inventory.
  

6. Team Leadership & Development

• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team including production managers, engineers, technicians, and quality staff.
  
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and innovation.
  
• Ensure training and development plans for technical and operational staff.
  

7. Compliance & Safety

• Maintain safety standards as per company and regulatory guidelines.
  
• Ensure environmental compliance for LGD operations.
  
• Implement risk management and emergency response procedures.
  

8. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Coordinate with planning, sales, supply chain, QA, and finance teams.
  
• Support business development with technical insights and product expertise.
  
• Represent the LGD division in internal and external meetings.
