Head Accountant

As a Head Accountant at our university located in Lynchburg, Virginia, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations with a particular emphasis on federal grant compliance. Your expertise in QuickBooks Desktop, federal grant regulations (Uniform Guidance), and higher education accounting standards will be essential for this role. **Key Responsibilities:** - Manage full-cycle accounting using QuickBooks Desktop. - Oversee federal and state grant accounting; ensure compliance with 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance). - Prepare financial statements and federal grant reports (e.g., SF-425). - Monitor budgets, cash flow, and grant expenditures. - Lead annual audits including Single Audit (A-133) preparation and response. - Supervise accounting staff and maintain internal controls. - Ensure compliance with GAAP, GASB, and university policies. **Qualifications:** - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. - 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in higher education or nonprofit. - Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop (required). - Strong knowledge of federal grant regulations and reporting. - Experience with audits and financial compliance in a grant-funded environment.,
