Job Description

Hi,

We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and forward-thinking SEO leader to head organic search for a marquee technology client within organisation. This is a 100% client-dedicated position operating from within the agency, responsible for driving the clients end-to-end SEO, LLM-SEO (Large Language Model SEO), and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) strategy.

The ideal candidate combines deep SEO expertise, AI-driven thinking, and strong client partnership skills capable of translating complex SEO insights into meaningful business impact. You will lead a high-performing team, collaborate across content, product, and performance functions, and future-proof the clients organic visibility in an era shaped by AI-powered search.

Reporting

This role reports jointly to:
- Director SEO, and - Client-side Marketing/Performance Lead (for strategic alignment).

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute an AI-first SEO roadmap aligned with the clients business goals.
  • Integrate LLM-SEO / GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) practices into the organic search ecosystem.
  • Champion entity-based, structured, and conversational SEO frameworks to drive visibility across Google, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity.
  • Identify growth opportunities through competitive intelligence, SERP innovation, and AI-search evolution.

2. Technical and AI-SEO Excellence

  • Lead ongoing technical SEO and site architecture optimization, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Oversee the integration of structured data, schema, and speakable markup to enhance search comprehension.
  • Implement AI-driven keyword clustering, content gap analysis, and prompt optimization frameworks.
  • Partner with developers to ensure crawlability, page speed, and mobile experience are optimized per Core Web Vitals.

3. Content & Generative Optimization

  • Collaborate with content strategists, writers, and editors to craft AI-optimized content that ranks across traditional and generative engines.
  • Build and govern AI FAQ hubs, entity glossaries, and LLM.txt frameworks to strengthen authority signals.
  • Ensure content aligns with EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) and AI Overviews visibility.

4. Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary SEO liaison between the client and agency ensuring transparency, accountability, and proactive communication.
  • Translate complex technical insights into clear, business-driven narratives for CXO-level stakeholders.
  • Build trust through strategic presentations, performance reviews, and actionable insights that link SEO to ROI.

5. Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and upskill a team of SEO specialists and analysts in both traditional and AI-SEO disciplines.
  • Collaborate with paid media, analytics, and product teams to deliver unified performance outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, learning, and experimentation in an evolving SEO + AI landscape.

6. Measurement & Reporting

  • Own the SEO and GEO performance dashboard tracking visibility, share of voice, and AI-search inclusion metrics.
  • Leverage tools like Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, BrightEdge, Screaming Frog, and SimilarWeb, along with AI-analytics tools for LLM tracking.
  • Report actionable insights and quarterly growth strategies to both client and agency leadership.

Experience & Background

  • 8 - 12 years of progressive SEO experience, with 45 years in leadership roles.
  • Proven success managing enterprise-scale or tech-sector websites with complex architectures.
  • Experience in AI-SEO, LLM prompt engineering, or GEO implementation is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of content ecosystems, user intent, and conversion pathways.
  • Prior agency experience with direct client ownership preferred.
