Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

The Goan Chef will be responsible for creating and preparing traditional Goan dishes, maintaining high standards of food quality, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation, and managing kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Goan culinary techniques, and a deep passion for creating dishes that reflect the diverse and rich culinary heritage of Goa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Goan Cuisine: Expertly prepare and cook a variety of traditional Goan dishes, such as seafood curries, xacuti, sorpotel, fish curry and other regional delicacies.
  • Menu Planning & Development: Collaborate with the head chef to design, update, and maintain the menu with seasonal and authentic Goan dishes.
  • Maintain Kitchen Standards: Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet the restaurant’s standards. Oversee kitchen operations to ensure cleanliness and safety protocols are adhered to.
  • Inventory Management: Track and manage kitchen inventory, ordering ingredients, and maintaining supplier relationships to ensure fresh and high-quality produce.
  • Staff Training: Train kitchen staff on Goan cooking techniques and proper preparation methods.
  • Customer Service: Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure that customers enjoy an authentic dining experience and address any special requests or dietary requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience as a chef specializing in Goan cuisine, with at least 2 (minimum) years of experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Goan ingredients, spices, and traditional cooking methods.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Passionate about delivering authentic Goan culinary experiences.
  • Ability to lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff.
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and able to consistently deliver dishes with high presentation value.
  • A Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in working in Goan or Indian restaurants.
