1. Position Overview

General Manager Commercial & Contracts

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Contract Management

• Lead the preparation, review, negotiation, and finalization of all

  subcontracts, service agreements, and vendor contracts

  .
• Evaluate contract terms, conditions, and identify commercial risks with mitigation measures.
  
• Ensure all contracts are aligned with company policies, legal requirements, and project budgets.
  
• Manage contractual claims, variations, extensions of time (EoT), and dispute resolution.
  
• Ensure timely closure of contract issues with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  

B. Commercial Management

• Provide strategic commercial leadership for all ongoing and upcoming projects.
  
• Monitor project budgets, cash flows, and commercial KPIs to ensure financial discipline.
  
• Review and approve project cost estimates, BOQs, and rate analyses.
  
• Lead cost optimization initiatives and ensure commercial efficiency in project execution.
  
• Conduct periodic commercial audits to monitor variations, cost escalations, and financial risks.
  

C. Procurement & Vendor Management

• Oversee vendor pre-qualification, technical/commercial evaluation, and final selection.
  
• Finalize vendor rates, negotiate commercial terms, and implement long-term rate agreements.
  
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  
• Ensure procurement activities are aligned with project timelines, quality standards, and cost targets.
  

D. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with the

  Projects, Planning, QS, Finance, Legal, and HR teams

  to ensure seamless commercial and contractual operations.
• Provide guidance to project teams on commercial risks, claims preparation, and contract compliance.
  
• Conduct regular review meetings with site commercial teams for issue resolution.
  

E. Leadership & People Management

• Lead and mentor the commercial, contract administration, and procurement teams.
  
• Develop internal processes, SOPs, and commercial policies to improve organisational efficiency.
  
• Drive capability building through training and development of team members.
  

F. Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory requirements, and contractual obligations.
  
• Prepare MIS reports for management on commercial status, major negotiations, risks, and savings.
  
• Present commercial insights and recommendations to top management for strategic decision-making.
  

3. Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering;

  MBA (Finance/Contracts/Operations)

  preferred.

• 20–30 years

  of experience in Commercial & Contracts function within the

  Construction / Infrastructure industry

  .
• Strong experience in subcontracting, rate negotiation, vendor management, and contract administration.
  
• Experience handling high-value EPC, Industrial, Residential, or Commercial projects.
  

4. Key Skills & Competencies

• Excellent negotiation and commercial acumen.
  
• Strong knowledge of contract laws, FIDIC conditions, taxation, and statutory compliances.
  
• Expertise in BOQ analysis, rate derivation, cost control, and project financials.
  
• Strong leadership skills with ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  
• Problem-solving, analytical thinking, and risk assessment capabilities.
  
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
