GM / Sr GM - Detail Engineering (Chemical)

Position: GM / Sr GM - Detail Engineering (Head)

Location: Mumbai

Segment: Speciality Chemical

Purpose

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead detail engineering activities for greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Act as the single point of contact for all detail engineering disciplines (Process, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil/Structural).
• Translate basic engineering and process design packages into executable detail engineering deliverables.
• Review and finalize PFDs, P&IDs, equipment layouts, piping layouts, and 3D models.
• Ensure correct material selection, equipment specification and sizing Process and Utility equipment, pump calculations, PSV Sizings, HAZOP and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Exposure to Process Control systems (DCS, SCADA, PLCs) for developing and implementing Control Strategies.
• Interface with process licensors, EPC contractors, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Develop and track project schedules and deliverables and ensure adherence to project budgets and approved scope.
• Implement quality control checks and ensure engineering documentation accuracy.
• Address site queries, manage engineering changes, and support issue resolution during execution.
• Ensure designs comply with EHS requirements and statutory regulations. Promote inherently safe design practices throughout the project lifecycle.
• Project Management: Familiarity with Project management software like MS Project/ Primavera, etc.

Competencies:

• Strong understanding of specialty chemical processes and unit operations
• Proficiency in engineering tools, engineering standards and best practices
• Process Simulation software ASPEN Plus, CHEMCAD, HTRI. Design & Layout Autocad, Plant 3D, etc.
• Strong project ownership and decision-making ability
• Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills & collaboration.
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail engineering.

Qualification:

Nature of Experience:

• 15 to 18 years experience in Design and detail engineering within specialty chemicals / pharmaceuticals / fine chemicals, and in the capacity of leading detail engineering function for atleast 2-3 years.

Stakeholders:

• Internal: T&D, EHS, Process, Pilot Plant, Operation, Utility, etc.
• External: Consultants, Package vendors, Fabricators, Contractors, etc.
