GM (Mechanical Project) - Sponge DRI Plant

The General Manager (Mechanical Project) for a Sponge DRI Plant specializing in TMT Bar and Steel Pipe Manufacturing will oversee all mechanical engineering projects related to the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes within the facility. This role involves coordinating multiple engineering teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving efficiencies in production to meet quality and safety standards. The GM (Mechanical Project) will also be responsible for strategic planning and execution of capital projects aimed at improving production capabilities and capacity.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all mechanical engineering projects from conception through to execution, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
• Develop and implement project management plans, risk assessment strategies, and resource allocation for mechanical projects.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and safety teams to prioritize mechanical projects that enhance efficiency and product quality.
• Ensure compliance with local, national, and industry-specific regulations related to mechanical engineering and plant operations.
• Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for proposed mechanical projects, preparing detailed reports for senior management.
• Oversee maintenance strategies for plant machinery and equipment to ensure operational reliability and minimize downtime.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies or engineering methodologies that improve production processes and efficiency.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure the procurement of quality materials and services.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, financial forecasts, and tracking of project expenditures.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on mechanical systems and machinery, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
• Develop and carry out training programs for staff on new equipment, safety protocols, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
• Prepare and present project proposals, progress updates, and final reports to executive management and stakeholders.
