Functional Tester

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Functional Tester. The candidate will be responsible for validating software functionality by analyzing requirements, designing test cases, executing test cycles, and identifying issues before deployment. The role involves collaborating with developers, business analysts, and end-users to ensure software quality and business alignment.

Role & responsibilities

• Analyze business and functional requirements to create detailed, comprehensive test cases.
• Execute manual or automated functional tests to verify application behavior.
• Validate system functionality across UI, APIs, workflows, and reports.
• Log, track, and retest defects using tools like JIRA, Bugzilla, or HP ALM.
• Participate in test planning, status reporting, and defect triage meetings.
• Perform system testing, regression testing, smoke testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) support.
• Ensure test coverage aligns with business scenarios and requirements.
• Collaborate with development and business teams to clarify requirements and resolve issues.

Maintain test documentation and contribute to QA process improvements

Preferred candidate profile

• 2 - 4 years of experience in functional/manual testing.
• Ability to understand and analyze business processes and translate them into test scenarios.
• Experience with testing tools like JIRA, TestRail, HP ALM, or similar.
• Solid knowledge of test case design techniques and defect lifecycle.
• Good SQL skills for database validation and backend testing.
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodologies.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
