Objective:

We’re looking for an experienced publishing or trade sales professional to help drive the offline

freelance, short-term assignment

About the Project

The book has been self-published

leading book retailers, independent stores, and distributors

Key Responsibilities

• Build a

  target list

  of major and regional bookstores, distributors, and airport retailers across India.
• Reach out via

  email, phone, and in-person meetings

  to store owners, purchase managers, and distributors.
• Present the upcoming title and

  negotiate stocking or consignment terms

  .
• Coordinate with the internal team for

  dispatch, invoicing, and stock tracking

  .
• Explore opportunities for

  in-store visibility, launch events, or local promotions

  .
• Maintain a

  structured outreach and response tracker

  with weekly updates.
• Identify potential

  regional distributors or aggregators

  for long-term continuity.

Who We’re Looking For

• Prior experience with a

  publishing house, distributor, or bookstore chain

  (e.g., Penguin, HarperCollins, Rupa, Crossword, Landmark, etc.) in

  sales, trade marketing, or distribution

  .
• Strong relationships within the

  book retail ecosystem

  across metros and key Tier-1 cities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
• Highly self-motivated, organised, and comfortable managing independent outreach.
• Based ideally in

  Delhi

  though remote professionals with active bookstore networks are also welcome.

Engagement Details

• Duration:

  1 month (extendable based on performance)

• Compensation:

  Fixed fee + incentive per confirmed placement

• Deliverables:

  Secure 25–50 confirmed bookstore listings nationally before launch

• Reporting:

  Weekly progress report to the project lead
