Formulation Scientist

Qualification:

• BAMS (Senior)

  with strong classical text grounding

• OR

  MSc/PhD Ayurveda/Nutraceuticals/Food Science
• 5-12 year of experience 

Preferably from a Health n Wellness background

Position Overview

We are looking for a scientific, innovative, and Ayurveda-rooted Formulation Head to lead product creation for VedicMum and support therapeutic formulation innovation at TheraYog.

This role owns end-to-end formulation development — from concept, classical reference, ingredient selection, trial batches, vendor communication, safety validation, to final product release.

You will be the core Ayurvedic brain behind all herbal powders, teas, laddoos, syrups, tonics, and upgraded classical formulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Research & Formulation Development (Ayurvedic + Food Science)
• Create a complete formulation blueprint for all new products.
• Select herbs, ratios, dosages, actives & potency targets.
• Ensure formulations align with AYUSH, FSSAI, and global quality standards.
• Use classical Ayurveda texts + modern science for justification.
• Develop prototype batches, stability trials, sensory tests.
• Create/modify classical Ayurvedic medicines for TheraYog programs.
• Provide technical support for teas, powders, ladoos, seed mixes, snacks, blends, syrups, oils & more.
• Translate formulation specifications to manufacturing vendors.
• Approve raw materials, COAs, biomarker potency (e.g., withanolides %).
• Review and challenge vendor R&D suggestions.
• Trouble­shoot taste, texture, stability, shelf-life, solubility issues.
• Conduct periodic audits of manufacturing partners.
• Plan a yearly

  SKU pipeline

  for women’s health, prenatal, postnatal care, and general wellness.
• Conduct competitive research & trend analysis.
• Optimize formulations for better efficacy & cost efficiency.
• Identify new ingredients, scientific advancements, and emerging market demands.
• Ensure safety ranges for herbs, minerals & additives.
• Document contraindications & dosage guidelines.
• Validate consumer feedback for product improvements.
• Approve final formulations before mass production.

Required Qualifications

BAMS (Senior)

OR

- 5-12 years of experience

- Experience in consumer product formulation (mandatory)

- Strong knowledge of Charaka, Sushruta, Ashtanga, Bhaishajya Ratnavali

- Understanding of FSSAI, AYUSH, GMP

- Experience working with third-party manufacturers
