Faculty - French Language

Position:

• Instruction:

  Design and deliver engaging, high-quality French language courses (Beginner to Intermediate levels, as required) with a focus on all four skills:

  listening, reading, writing, and speaking

  .

• Cultural Immersion:

  Integrate elements of

  Francophone culture, literature, and current affairs

  into lessons to provide a holistic and immersive learning experience.

• Pedagogy:

  Utilize modern, communicative, and technology-aided teaching methodologies, including the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and multimedia resources.

• Curriculum:

  Develop, review, and update course syllabi, lesson plans, and teaching materials that align with the SHD's objectives of fostering global competency.

2. Assessment and Student Mentorship

• Evaluation:

  Plan, administer, and grade various forms of assessment, including written exams, oral proficiency tests, projects, and presentations.

• Feedback:

  Provide constructive and timely feedback to students to support their continuous academic growth and language acquisition.

• Mentoring:

  Guide students on language learning pathways, resources, and career opportunities requiring French proficiency.

• Holistic Support:

  Support students in aligning their language learning journey with the School of Holistic Development's emphasis on personality development and essential life skills.

3. Departmental and University Contribution

• Extracurricular Activities:

  Organize and participate in

  cultural events, workshops, and French clubs

  to promote the language and culture within the university community.

• Collaboration:

  Collaborate with other faculty members and departments to explore interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

• Administrative Duties:

  Undertake administrative tasks related to course management, student records, and departmental meetings as required.

• Professional Development:

  Remain current with advancements in French language education, pedagogy, and relevant technological tools.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Education:

  Master's degree

  in French Language, French Literature, Linguistics, or a related field. A Ph.D. is desirable.

• Experience:

  A minimum of

  2-3 years

  of experience teaching French at the university/college level or a similar higher education institution.

• Language Proficiency:

  Near-native or native-level fluency in both spoken and written French (CEFR

  C1/C2 level

  equivalent). Proficiency in English is essential.

• Certification:

  Relevant language teaching certifications (e.g.,

  DELF/DALF Examiner/Trainer certification

  ) are highly desirable.

• Skills:

• Strong command of modern language teaching methodologies.
• Proficiency in educational technology, including LMS (e.g., Moodle, Canvas) and digital language learning tools.
• Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience with value-based or integral education models.
• Familiarity with the Indian higher education system.
• Experience in developing course materials tailored to diverse, adult learners.
• Experience living, studying, or working in a Francophone country.
