Executive / Sr. Executive - General Ledger

- The General Ledger Executive will be responsible for end-to-end general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end and year-end close processes, and financial reporting for assigned entities within the shipping business. This role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., IFRS/GAAP).

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily and monthly general ledger accounting activities, including posting journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for assigned entities.
• Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes in coordination with regional finance teams.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS/GAAP.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Work closely with other finance verticals (AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Tax, etc.) to ensure proper data flow and reconciliations.
• Participate in finance transformation, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support intercompany reconciliations and settlements in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment.
• Assist with internal reporting, variance analysis, and management dashboards as needed.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2 - 4 years of experience in general ledger accounting, preferably in a GCC or shared services environment.
• Experience in the shipping or logistics industry is an advantage.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of IFRS / US GAAP.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
• Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with global stakeholders.
