EPS Column & I-shaft

As a Steering Column Product Design Engineer, your role involves translating project customer requirements into Bill of Materials (BOM), drawings, specifications, and DFMEA. You will design and develop steering column products that align with industry best practices and fulfill customer needs. Your responsibilities include: - Designing steering column products while balancing manufacturing considerations and cost competitiveness. - Reviewing and releasing child parts, sub-assemblies, and saleable assembly designs in collaboration with Quality, Manufacturing, and Procurement teams. - Identifying and mitigating potential risks through design enhancements with a cross-functional team consisting of customers, internal team members, and suppliers. - Leading problem-solving activities and root cause analysis. - Developing and maintaining DFMEA for all released products. - Understanding validation requirements for steering columns and planning for internal and customer-specific Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). - Staying updated on current steering column technology and anticipating future trends. - Incorporating new technologies and meeting future Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) requirements in system designs. - Utilizing CAD and CAE tools effectively. - Ensuring smooth communication and documentation among all stakeholders. - Maintaining comprehensive design documentation throughout the product lifecycle. - Leveraging knowledge of local supplier bases and competitor product landscapes to drive design decisions. - Managing Statement of Requirements (SOR), Design Verification (DV) builds, prototype samples, component and product-level testing requirements. - Following change management procedures, Manufacturing Process Planning (MAPP), and deviation protocols. - Demonstrating proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack-up, and fits calculations.
