The Enterprise Architect - Shared Services will be a senior technology leader responsible for defining and executing the enterprise technology vision for Shared Services, with a strong focus on Finance, HR, Procurement, and other corporate functions. This role will play a key part in the Finance Delivery transformation, including Empower s S/4 HANA migration, ensuring architectural alignment, scalability, and integration across systems.
The Enterprise Architect partners with both business and IT teams to align technology solutions with business strategy and enterprise architecture principles. This role will drive technology strategies, reference architectures, and best practices to ensure stability, performance, and efficiency across Shared Services and Finance systems.
The ideal candidate will combine deep architecture experience with hands-on knowledge of SAP S/4 HANA and enterprise integration patterns, working across business and delivery teams to influence technology direction, guide design, and deliver sustainable value.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Architecture Leadership
o Define and execute the technology vision and roadmap for Shared Services and Finance Delivery.
o Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles, standards, and frameworks.
o Develop and maintain reference architectures for Shared Services domains including Finance, Actuarial, and Procurement systems.
o Partner closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, and enterprise architects to guide transformation efforts.
Solution Design and Governance
o Design end-to-end enterprise solutions integrating SAP S/4 with other enterprise systems and cloud platforms.
o Evaluate technology options and propose solutions that balance innovation, performance, cost, and compliance.
o Drive modernization of legacy applications into cloud-compatible or cloud-native architectures where applicable.
o Provide governance and architectural oversight across multiple delivery teams.
Collaboration and Leadership
o Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, PMO, and business delivery teams to ensure consistent architecture implementation.
o Work closely with system integrators and vendors in delivering enterprise-scale Shared Services solutions.
o Lead architectural reviews, provide mentoring, and ensure adoption of architectural best practices across teams.
Cloud, Integration, and Modernization
o Lead strategies to ensure effective implementation and use of SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models.
o Leverage API-first and service-oriented architectures (SOA, microservices, RESTful APIs) for scalable integration.
o Define architecture for data management, analytics, and operational excellence within Shared Services.
Security, Compliance, and Optimization
o Address cross-cutting concerns including security, monitoring, operational efficiency, and cost optimization.
o Support Run Cost Optimization initiatives through improved system efficiency and rationalization.
Thought Leadership and Continuous Improvement
o Stay current with technology trends, particularly in SAP ecosystems, cloud technologies, and intelligent automation and GenAI.
o Advocate for innovation and continuous improvement within the Shared Services technology landscape.
o Provide thought leadership within Enterprise Architecture forums and communities of practice.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline
Preferred Qualifications
Master s degree
Preferrred Experience
15+ years in the design, development, and delivery of enterprise technology systems.
7+ years in Enterprise or Solution Architecture roles across multiple architecture domains (business, application, data, integration, infrastructure, and security).
Proven experience with SAP S/4 HANA Finance and related integration architectures (e.g., SAP BTP, API Gateway, OData).
Strong background in Shared Services architectures, supporting Finance, Actuarial, and Procurement functions.
Expertise with cloud architectures (AWS), DevOps, and modern integration methods.
Demonstrated ability to influence and align large-scale transformation programs.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with SAP S/4 HANA architecture, migration, and integration.
- Experience with microservices, APIs, event-based messaging, and RESTful architectures.
- Knowledge of data modeling, security patterns, and BPM tools.
- Familiarity with DevOps pipelines, CI/CD, and modern SDLC methodologies.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native design and multi-cloud strategies.
- Preferred Industry Experience
- Financial Services or large-scale enterprise experience, ideally within retirement, asset management, or financial operations.
