Engineering Manager

As an Engineering Manager specializing in the MERN Stack, you will play a pivotal role in leading, nurturing, and motivating our exceptional engineering team. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around shaping the technical direction, ensuring the scalability and security of SolarSquare's platforms, and maintaining a seamless user experience. You will be instrumental in fostering a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and continuous learning among your team members. Your key duties will include managing a team of full stack developers, ranging from SDE1 to SDE3, with a focus on empowering them to excel in their roles. Collaborating closely with product, design, and business units, you will align engineering initiatives with overall business objectives to drive impactful product deliveries. It will be crucial for you to enforce engineering best practices, such as code reviews, testing strategies, and deployment pipelines, to uphold the quality and reliability of our systems. Furthermore, you will be responsible for crafting and executing the technical vision and architectural roadmap for our MERN stack platform. This involves ensuring scalability, security, and high performance while optimizing system performance and cost-efficiency in cloud infrastructure across platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP. Implementing robust monitoring systems and identifying and resolving production issues proactively will be essential aspects of your role. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will play a pivotal role in talent acquisition and development. Your expertise in team building and leadership will be crucial in recruiting, onboarding, and nurturing top engineering talents. You will also oversee the management of technical debt, striking a balance between long-term engineering health and immediate product needs. The ideal candidate for this role should possess 8-12 years of experience in full stack development, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership or people management position. A proven track record in the MERN stack, distributed systems, and microservices is essential. Proficiency in cloud platforms, containerization, orchestration tools, observability practices, and leading agile engineering teams is highly desirable. Strong communication skills, stakeholder management abilities, and a focus on aligning technical efforts with business goals are also crucial aspects of this role.
