Join us as an Engineering Manager at Barclays, where innovation isn't just encouraged; it's expected. You will be accountable for global engineering priorities and product ownership of the object storage product portfolio. Your responsibilities will include setting global engineering standards, staying informed about industry trends, collaborating closely with business partners, product management, and operational customers to ensure that products are user-friendly, secure, and efficient. Additionally, you will identify opportunities for automation and service offerings through infrastructure as code. Your role will span across all regions where the product is utilized, including APAC, EMEA, and the US. To succeed as an Engineering Manager, you should have experience in managing high-performance, globally diverse teams within a dynamic environment. Knowledge or experience with storage technologies such as Dell/EMC VMAX, Power Max, Power Flex arrays, Pure Storage Flash Array/Flash Blade, Fusion Cloud workload placement, cloud mobility, storage gateway, and automated data management products will be beneficial. In addition to the aforementioned skills, valuable skills may include knowledge of private and public cloud storage and data services, excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration in a globally distributed team, proficiency in design, troubleshooting, documentation, product lifecycle management, problem analysis/isolation, compliance, and security, as well as a strong desire to take end-to-end ownership of deliverables to colleagues and business partners. The primary purpose of this role is to lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions. By driving technical excellence, fostering innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will align technical decisions with business objectives. Key Accountabilities: - Lead engineering teams effectively to achieve project goals and organizational objectives. - Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management, and task prioritization for successful solution delivery. - Mentor team members, conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify growth opportunities. - Evaluate and enhance engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to optimize team productivity. - Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure cohesive product development. - Enforce technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices for high-quality solutions delivery. As a Vice President in this role, you will contribute to setting strategy, drive requirements, manage resources and budgets, deliver continuous improvements, and escalate policy breaches. People Leaders are expected to exhibit leadership behaviours that create an environment for colleagues to excel. For individual contributors, subject matter expertise within their discipline is crucial, guiding technical direction, leading multi-year assignments, and coaching less experienced specialists.
