Engineering Manager - Backend

As an Engineering Manager at Observe.AI, you will lead a skilled team of backend engineers to develop and maintain scalable, high-performance data solutions. Your role involves managing the end-to-end lifecycle of the engineering charter, collaborating cross-functionally with product, business, and analytics teams to support data-driven decision-making, and enhancing engineering excellence within the ecosystem. You will play a key role in addressing scalability challenges, promoting engineering excellence, and fostering a culture of technical innovation across the company. - Set and communicate team priorities aligning with organizational goals and timelines. - Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams to drive efficiency and effectiveness. - Establish clear expectations for individuals based on their level and role, in alignment with broader organizational objectives. - Conduct regular performance discussions, provide feedback, and support individual development through coaching. - Develop a mid-term technical vision and roadmap for your team(s), anticipating future requirements and infrastructure needs. - Design and evaluate system designs within the broader context, and develop product or system code to address complex problems. - Stay abreast of best practices in enterprise-grade software development and share knowledge with the team. - Contribute to building Observe.AI's technical brand and elevate hiring standards. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; advanced degree would be a plus. - 9+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial capacity. - Proven experience in leading backend engineering teams, including recruitment, mentorship, and talent development. - Track record of collaborating in a cross-functional environment to deliver impactful solutions. - Ability to independently lead initiatives, design modules, and solve complex business problems. - Strong understanding of design patterns and principles, with a focus on product quality and attention to detail. - Comfort working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and staying updated on emerging technologies. - Ability to guide the team in evaluating and adopting cutting-edge technologies.,
