Engineering - Copper

Purpose/Objective

To support the engineering department in managing capital projects, optimizing plant infrastructure, and implementing technical solutions to improve operational efficiency and reliability across the entire copper manufacturing facility. This role is crucial for ensuring the plant's long-term sustainability and performance.

Key Responsibilities of Role

- Project management: Assist in the planning, execution, and supervision of capital projects, including plant expansion, equipment installation, and technology upgrades. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to required specifications. - Technical support: Provide technical expertise and engineering support to various plant departments, troubleshooting complex operational issues and recommending engineering solutions. - Design and analysis: Participate in the design and analysis of new systems or modifications to existing infrastructure, ensuring they comply with engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental protocols. - Process optimization: Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements through engineering interventions. - Documentation: Maintain and update engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation. Ensure proper archiving and accessibility of all engineering records. - Vendor management: Work with external vendors and contractors to procure engineering services and equipment, ensuring quality and performance standards are met.

Qualifications and Experience

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Industrial Engineering. A Master’s degree is a plus. - Experience: 5-8 years of experience in a heavy industry or manufacturing environment, with significant exposure to engineering projects, design, or technical support roles. Experience in the metals or copper industry is highly preferred. - Skills: Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and project management tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as an understanding of manufacturing processes. - Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) license or other relevant certifications in project management or process engineering are advantageous.
