Engineer / Senior Engineer - Mechanical Maintenance

Job Purpose

To ensure reliable performance and availability of mechanical equipment and production machinery across tyre manufacturing processes by leading preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance activities during the assigned shift, while supporting safety, productivity and quality objectives.

Role & responsibilities

1. Shift Operations & Equipment Maintenance

Monitor and maintain mechanical equipment across plant sections:

Mixing & Batch Preparation

Extrusion / Stock Preparation

Calendaring / Bead Preparation

Tyre Building Machines (TBM)

Curing / Press Shop

Utility, Boiler, Air Compressors & HVAC

Attend breakdowns and ensure minimum downtime (MTTR reduction).

Conduct mechanical troubleshooting of:

Gearboxes, bearings, couplings & drive systems

Hydraulic & pneumatic systems

Conveyors, rollers, pumps & rotating equipment

Presses, molds and handling equipment

2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

Execute PM schedules as per TPM/CMMS.

Monitor condition-based parameters:

Vibration, noise & temperature

Lubrication & alignment

Maintain equipment history & breakdown analysis.

Support initiatives on:

MTBF improvement

RCA / Why-Why analysis

Kaizen / SMED / OEE improvement

3. Safety, Compliance & Documentation

Ensure compliance with:

Mechanical safety procedures

LOTO implementation

Permit-to-work systems

Ensure statutory compliance for pressure vessels & lifting tools.

Support ISO / IATF / OHS audits & documentation.

4. Spares, Vendor & Coordination

Monitor critical spares availability:

Bearings, seals, belts, chains

Hydraulic & pneumatic components

Gear assemblies & machine parts

Coordinate with OEM & service contractors.

Provide maintenance support to production teams during shift.

Technical Skills Required Strong knowledge of:

Rotating machinery & power transmission systems

Hydraulics & pneumatics

Alignment, balancing & lubrication systems

Welding, fabrication & utility maintenance

Hands-on experience in:

Breakdown troubleshooting

Press & TBM maintenance

Heavy industrial machinery

Preferred candidate profile

Minimum 37 years of experience as Shift Engineer in:

Tyre manufacturing plant TBR / PCR / MCR tyre plants preferred.
