About the Role

EDI Developer

Key Responsibilities

• EDI Development & Integration

• Analyze, design, and implement EDI mappings, workflows, and business processes using

  IBM Sterling Integrator (SI)

  or

  Gentran Server

  .
• Configure trading partner setups, communication channels, and data transformations for inbound and outbound EDI transactions.
  
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot EDI maps for various document types (e.g., 850, 810, 855, 856, 997, etc.).
  
• Manage data translation and integration between internal systems (ERP/CRM) and external trading partners.
  

• Testing & Quality Coordination

• Collaborate with the

  Quality Control (QC)

  team to conduct unit testing, integration testing, and UAT for EDI processes.
• Perform debugging and root cause analysis for EDI failures and communication errors.
  

• Technical Documentation & Process Adherence

• Create and maintain technical and project documentation (mapping specifications, process flow diagrams, deployment guides).
  
• Follow

  CMMI-defined processes

  , ensuring compliance with quality and development standards.
• Prepare and conduct

  brownbag training sessions

  to share EDI knowledge and best practices within the team.

• System Operations & Support

• Monitor daily EDI transactions, troubleshoot transmission issues, and ensure SLAs for partner communications are met.
  
• Coordinate with infrastructure and business teams to manage system upgrades, patches, and migrations.
  

• Continuous Improvement

• Explore process automation and optimization opportunities for EDI data flows.
  
• Stay updated on latest EDI, B2B, and integration technologies through reading, research, and self-learning.
  

Technical Skills Required

Primary Skills:

• Minimum

  6 years of hands-on experience

  in

  EDI Gentran

  or

  IBM Sterling Integrator

  development and support.
• Strong knowledge of

  EDI standards and document types

  (ANSI X12, EDIFACT, etc.).
• Proficiency in

  communication protocols

  such as

  SFTP, AS2, FTP, HTTPS, VANs

  , etc.
• Experience with

  SQL

  (basic to intermediate level) for data queries and validation.
• Scripting knowledge (Shell/Batch/Perl/Python) for automation and data manipulation.
  
• Understanding of

  data mapping, envelope structures, trading partner setup

  , and message tracking.

Good to Have:

• Exposure to

  ERP systems integration

  (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards).
• Familiarity with

  APIs

  ,

  web services

  , and

  XML

  /JSON-based integrations.
• Experience with

  production support

  in high-volume EDI environments.
• Knowledge of

  CMMI processes

  and documentation standards.
