The Role: Post-Contract

 

Electrical & ELV Design Lead

Electrical & ELV Design Engineer

post-contract phase

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Design & Engineering

  • Develop comprehensive

    Electrical Design Basis Reports (DBR)

    tailored to modular and volumetric construction requirements.
  • Perform core engineering calculations, including

    power sizing, load schedules, voltage drop, and short circuit analysis

    .
  • Design detailed

    Power Distribution Systems

    , including LT (Low Tension) and HT (High Tension) paneling layouts and specifications.
  • Design integrated

    ELV (Extra-Low Voltage) Systems

    , including CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm, Data/Voice, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Create and review high-quality

    Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)

    and detailed

    Shop Drawings

    for manufacturing and site installation.

2. Documentation & Procurement Support

  • Generate accurate

    Bills of Materials (BOM)

    and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for all electrical and ELV components.
  • Review and provide

    Technical Approval for Purchases

    , ensuring that materials sourced by procurement meet project specifications and budget constraints.
  • Interface with vendors to evaluate technical submittals for specialized equipment (Transformers, DG sets, UPS, etc.).

3. Value Engineering & Profitability

  • Optimize designs to

    increase project profitability

    without compromising safety or quality.
  • Identify opportunities for modular pre-wiring and plug-and-play electrical systems to reduce on-site labor costs.
  • Monitor "Design vs. Actual" material consumption to prevent wastage.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience:

    5+ years of experience, preferably in PEB, Volumetric, or fast-track commercial construction.
  • Software Proficiency:

    Expert level in

    AutoCAD

    ; experience with Revit (BIM) or specialized electrical design software (like Ecodial or ETAP) is a strong plus.
  • Standards knowledge:

    Deep understanding of local and international electrical codes (e.g., IEC, NEC, BS standards).
  • Modular Focus:

    Understanding the unique constraints of volumetric construction (e.g., structural penetrations, transport vibrations, and inter-module connections).
