The team is looking for a display metrology technologist who is responsible for display instrumentation and metrology development. The work is for an Apple product that does not exist in the market, and you will be expected to work closely with the Display group to define calibration test methodology, to probe design weaknesses and to build a highly reliable instrument for Apple standard definition.
Description
As a Display Metrology Technologist, you will be responsible for the design specification, bring-up, validation and deployment of automated instrumentation to calibrate and test Apple s products through NPI and mass production. - Deep dive and FMEA for new display technology/architecture in the prototype phase. Collaborate with multi-functional teams to build an end-to-end calibration and test strategy. - Design a corresponding metrology system with a good balance of engineering requirements, development cycle time and financial budgeting. - Touch every aspect of a display test system, including requirement specification, hardware/software development and audit process definition. - Provide a trustworthy report with subjective data, to help the new display design convergence by revealing or even predicting hidden risks. - Practice modelling, simulation and machine learning to assist data-driven decision. - Present progress and results at the working level and executive level meeting. - Up to 10% domestic + international travelling
- Bachelors in Engineering / Optics / Imaging / EE / CS / Physics or related field
- 3+ years of professional experience with at least 1 year in the camera or display industry
- Knowledge in imaging optics, image processing, display and colour science. Familiarity with optical metrology tools, e. g. colourimeters, spectrometers, digital cameras and light sources.
- Experience with image processing algorithms development
- Programming skills in one or more of the following: C/C++/Objective-C/Lua/Python.
- Can-Do mindset and always be ready to step in an uncharted zone.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, highly cross-functional and fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in English, written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Self-motivated, self-reliant, and confident in working independently in a factory environment. The following skills are not necessary for consideration, but will be considered a plus:
- 5+ years of professional experience in design, development, debugging, and validation
- PhD or Masters Engineering / Optics / Imaging / EE / CS / Physics or related field
- The capability of planning, designing, and driving an experiment with limited resources or information.
- Understanding of test principles, GRR, experience with test automation and optimisation
- Experience in instrument supplier bring-up and qualification.
- Experience or deep understanding of AI/ML modelling
- Strong programming experience: version control, unit testing, collaborative development
- Experience with data processing tools - plotting, processing and mining data
- Experience collaborating with external vendors to integrate test solutions
