As the Director of Engineering at Swiggy, you will play a crucial role in leading one of the core business verticals, where you will be at the forefront of integrating product, engineering, and business strategy. Your primary responsibility will involve leading development teams to deliver accurate and timely data in innovative ways for our Engineering teams. You will have a significant influence on the vision, features, and design of critical data that drives the business forward. Your role will encompass all phases of the development lifecycle, including gathering business requirements, design and modeling, development, deployment, and support. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: - Lead the technology charter for a core business unit, overseeing the journey from vision to delivery, scale to innovation. - Collaborate closely with product, design, and business leaders to shape roadmaps, define outcomes, and ensure successful execution. - Build and nurture a high-performance engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership, agility, and innovation. - Engage in upstream problem-solving activities, bringing clarity to ambiguous problem spaces and influencing product direction. - Maintain a hands-on leadership style by actively participating in architecture discussions, design reviews, and occasionally diving into code. - Stay abreast of emerging technologies, such as GenAI, and guide the team in adopting relevant innovations. As the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for owning the technology vision and execution for a critical Swiggy vertical, providing you with autonomy and visibility by closely working with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across the organization. This role serves as an ideal platform to accelerate your journey as a senior engineering leader in a mission-driven culture that is dedicated to solving real-world problems at scale. We are seeking candidates with the following qualities: - 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 3-4 years in engineering leadership roles. - Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, deliver high-impact products, and drive business outcomes. - Strong systems thinking skills, with experience in designing and scaling distributed systems in high-growth environments. - Ability to influence product and business strategy through technical insight and data-driven decision-making. - Passion for building teams, mentoring talent, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. - Hands-on and pragmatic approach, comfortable with transitioning between strategy and execution. - Curiosity and eagerness to adopt and lead through emerging tech shifts, including GenAI and ML (experience is a plus).
