Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    Lead MEPF (Design) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the MEPF team, ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and firefighting systems are designed, installed, and maintained to the highest standards. This role involves supervising and guiding the executive-level engineers in their respective disciplines, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations, and coordinating with other departments and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of MEPF systems within the overall project.Lead MEPF reviews and approves technical designs, plans, and specifications, manages project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, provides technical expertise and support to the team, and conducts regular inspections and audits to ensure quality and safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Design Development and Oversight: Manage and oversee the entire MEPF design process from initial concept through to project completion, ensuring adherence to industry standards, codes, and regulations. Actively participate in project meetings, present MEPF design concepts, and contribute to strategic discussions to align designs with overall project objectives. Assess the skillset of vendors and possess multidisciplinary knowledge (architectural, MEPF, facade, etc.). Stay proficient with codal requirements and updated on the latest amendments in codes. Sustainability: The goal of sustainable MEP design is to minimize the environmental impact of buildings by integrating energy-efficient technologies, implementing water conservation measures, and using eco-friendly materials. This approach aims to reduce energy consumption, enhance indoor environmental quality, and achieve green building certifications like LEED, ensuring environmentally responsible construction. Review MEPF Drawings and Plans: Provide technical support and expert advice to the Head of vertical, review MEPF drawings and plans, and propose innovative solutions to overcome design challenges and enhance system integrity. Issue final drawings for construction (GFC) after extensive reviews, ensuring alignment between the design brief and project execution. Project Management: Create project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation, to ensure timely completion of MEPF components for both Brownfield and Greenfield projects. Track project progress against the schedule, making adjustments as needed to address delays or issues. Possess effective communication skills. Budget Management: Manage the budget for MEPF design projects, ensuring that all activities are completed within financial constraints while maximizing value. Assist in tracking project expenditures and ensuring efficient resource allocation. Value Engineering Integration: Implement value engineering principles to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety. Analyze project designs to enhance functionality, reduce costs, and improve constructability by implementing sustainable design solutions. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that all MEPF designs and construction practices comply with relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards. Identify potential risks related to system integrity, construction processes, environmental impacts, and operational disruptions. Create and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified risks. Conduct Feasibility Studies: Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of MEPF design and planning projects, focusing on technical specifications, cost implications, and potential risks. Review the results of feasibility studies to refine project plans and ensure they are financially and operationally feasible, aligning with long-term development goals. Site Inspections and Construction Monitoring: Conduct regular site visits to oversee construction progress, address any on-site issues, and ensure that the MEPF work meets quality, safety, and design standards. Provide design clarifications and support to execution teams as needed throughout the project lifecycle. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: Work with external stakeholders, including government authorities and vendors, to facilitate approvals, manage procurement processes, and ensure compliance with relevant guidelines and regulations. Oversee and collaborate with external consultants to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines. Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure smooth integration and execution of MEPF designs on site, addressing any coordination issues promptly. Industry Awareness and Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in materials, technologies, and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain excellence in MEPF practices. Oversee the creation of innovative design concepts by integrating sustainable and modern design principles that improve the overall functionality and efficiency of the systems. Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a team of MEPF professionals, providing them with guidance and support. Identify training needs and focus on skill development to enhance team effectiveness and foster an innovative work environment. Qualifications and Experience


    Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. Master's degree in any of the related disciplines is preferred Green Building Certification PMP Work Experience: 10 - 15 years of experience in Mechanical/Electrical engineering with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing airport development projects.Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng)/LEED Accreditation/Project Management Certification is preferred.
