Development Consultant

As a Senior Consultant in Data Science and Analytics at TransUnion, you will bring your expertise as an experienced data scientist with a strong mathematical programming background and advanced software development skills to support the development of cutting-edge analytic platforms. Your role will involve partnering with internal and external cross-functional teams to drive the setup and ongoing success of new data science environments in multiple markets. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the development of analytic solutions using languages such as C++, R, Python, SQL, Hive, and Spark, and formalize these efforts into repeatable process improvements. - Assist Global Technology in maintaining tools and frameworks used by analysts on the high-performance computing (HPC) cluster, serving as a subject matter expert on machine learning and scientific computing. - Own data science consulting responsibilities for various regions, identifying strategies and opportunities to test and adopt TransUnion's analytic products and services. - Contribute to research and innovation initiatives in collaboration with other Data Science and Analytics (DSA) peers, potentially leading small analytic research teams or managing research interns. - Participate in interviewing and evaluating new talent, mentoring and training junior colleagues, and fostering a high-performance culture that reflects the TransUnion brand. Qualifications Required: - Masters or PhD degree in statistics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, computer science, engineering, operations research, or a related quantitative field; or a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field with a minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating a consistent track record of academic excellence. - Advanced C++ programming skills, experience with numerical algorithms, and familiarity with machine learning frameworks like XGBoost, LightGBM, and H2O. - Proficiency in statistical languages such as R, Python for machine learning, other programming languages like Scala and Java, and experience with HPC environments like Slurm, Univa, SGE, and Torque. - Advanced SQL programming skills and experience with big data platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive; knowledge of Apache Arrow is a plus. - Experience in engineering connections between big data frameworks and front-end applications (Shiny, Streamlit, Dash, Tableau). - Strong project and time management skills to lead multiple projects simultaneously in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. - Versatile interpersonal skills with effective communication abilities across various levels within and outside the organization. - Demonstrated analytical, critical, and creative thinking with a proactive problem-solving attitude. - Ability to translate technical concepts into actionable recommendations for business partners and decision-makers. - Proven ability to operate effectively in a complex and dynamic, matrixed environment. - Good verbal and written communication skills with the capability to influence stakeholders towards desired outcomes. - Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time. This position is hybrid, requiring regular virtual and in-person presence at a TransUnion office location for a minimum of two days per week.,
