Developer - Transformer

Job Description:

• Design & build mappings:

  Create and maintain

  Transformer

  rules for SWIFT

  MT/MX (ISO 20022)

  , bankproprietary formats, CSV/XML, and internal schemas; implement enrichment, validations, error handling and reusable components.

• Annual SWIFT upgrades:

  Analyse schema deltas, retrofit existing mappings, execute regression packs, document deployment/rollback, and ensure nonbreaking changes across customers.

• Banking reconciliation support:

  Use SQL to profile data, reconcile cash and positions, produce exception lists, and partner with ops on break investigation and resolution.

• Customer delivery:

  Scope and deliver custom change requests and new onboardings; participate in UAT, triage defects, and provide production hypercare with crisp stakeholder updates.

• Linux operations & automation:

  Deploy packages, manage configs, schedule jobs (cron), monitor logs, and script routine tasks (shell).

• Docs & governance:

  Produce mapping specs, runbooks, and release notes; follow version control and change processes (Jira/ServiceNow).

Musthave skills:

• Transformer

  (or equivalent mapping/ETL tool) experience delivering complex financial message transformations.

• Java:

  Core Java, collections, I/O, XML processing, XPath, regex; ability to write utilities and unit tests that support transformation workflows.

• SQL (strong):

  Joins, window functions, reconciliation queries, data quality checks, performance basics on Oracle/PostgreSQL/MySQL.

• Linux/UNIX (practical):

  Shell, permissions, cron, log analysis, process/network basics.

• Banking & reconciliation concepts:

  Cash and position flows, statements (e.g.,

  CAMT.053

  ), trade confirmations, matching rules, breaks management, and exception handling.

• Tools & ways of working:

  Git, CI/CD or scripted deployments; clear customer communication and ownership mindset.

Nice to have skills

• Exposure to Corona/Aurora ecosystems and their upgrade cycles; familiarity with SWIFT change windows and industry timelines.
• Performance tuning for highvolume message flows; idempotent/rerunnable designs.
• Scripting: Groovy, Python, XSLT, JavaScript for validators/enrichment.
• Interfaces/transports: SFTP, MQ/JMS, file routing, secure transfer patterns.
• App/server familiarity from reconciliation platforms: reading enterprise Java logs (JBoss/Wildfly/WebLogic), understanding timeouts, thread pools and connection settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 4–8 years in data transformation/ETL/message mapping within financial services, including at least one SWIFT upgrade or multicustomer rollout.
