Design Head

Purpose of the Job

The Design Head AI Data Center will be responsible for leading the end-to-end design and engineering of AI Data Center projects, encompassing Mechanical, Electrical, ELV, and Structural disciplines. This leadership role ensures the seamless integration of high-performance systems optimized for AI workloads, focusing on energy efficiency, scalability, and reliability. The Design Head will drive innovation, technical excellence, and process optimization across all design verticals, ensuring adherence to project budgets, timelines, and quality standards. The position requires deep expertise in hyperscale data center design, multidisciplinary coordination, and stakeholder management to deliver world-class AI-ready facilities.

Key Deliverables:

1. Lead the overall design strategy, concept development, and detailed engineering for AI Data Centers, covering Mechanical (HVAC, cooling), Electrical (power distribution, UPS, transformers), ELV (BMS, fire alarm, security systems), and Structural design disciplines.

2. Oversee multidisciplinary design teams to ensure integration of cutting-edge technologies supporting AI compute, high-density racks, liquid cooling, and advanced power architectures.

3. Review and approve design deliverables, specifications, and tender documentation to ensure compliance with performance, sustainability, and operational requirements.

4. Drive collaboration with internal stakeholders, consultants, OEMs, and contractors to achieve optimal design solutions that meet both technical and commercial goals.

5. Ensure design governance through regular technical audits, risk assessments, and adherence to international codes and standards (ASHRAE, IEEE, IEC, NFPA, IS).

6. Provide strategic input on cost optimization, design innovation, and sustainable design initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and environmental performance.

Experience Required:

1. Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (Masters degree preferred).

2. Minimum 15–20 years of experience, with at least 5 years in data center design leadership roles, including exposure to hyperscale or AI Data Center projects.

3. Proven expertise in multidisciplinary design coordination across MEP, ELV, and Civil/Structural systems.

4. Deep understanding of AI and high-performance computing infrastructure requirements, including power density, cooling efficiency, and system redundancy.

5. Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and relevant simulation software.

6. Familiarity with sustainability frameworks (LEED, IGBC) and international design standards.
