Job Description

Role Overview: As a Design and Estimation Engineer specializing in Commission and Installation, your primary responsibility will be to analyze project specifications, estimate all associated costs, and prepare proposals for clients. You will be required to have a strong understanding of automation technologies, market trends, and project management to ensure competitive and profitable bids. Key Responsibilities: - Analyze project specifications by reviewing engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and client needs to determine the scope and requirements of the automation project. - Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and other related expenses. - Calculate installation costs by factoring in the time and labor required for the physical installation of automation equipment. - Estimate commissioning expenses including testing, calibration, and configuring the automation system to ensure proper functionality. - Coordinate with suppliers to obtain accurate and competitive pricing for all required components and hardware. - Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and risk factors that could impact the project budget or timeline. - Monitor project costs throughout the implementation phase to prevent budget overruns and ensure profitability. - Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate cost estimates, budgets, and project progress to clients and management. Qualifications Required: - Educational background: A bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, or Industrial) is typically required. - Technical expertise: Knowledge of automation technologies, control systems (PLC/DCS), and electrical components is essential. - Cost estimation methods: Proficiency in various estimation techniques such as bottom-up, analogous, and parametric estimating. - Analytical skills: Strong ability to analyze project requirements, identify potential risks, and calculate complex costs. - Software proficiency: Experience with relevant software including Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and project management tools. - Communication: Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills to interact effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
