Role Description
The incumbent will lead all aspects of purchasing and logistics operations, encouraging positive relationships with business partners, manufacturing, and suppliers to efficiently align supply chain strategies and deliver business goals. Role demands strong skills like planning, scheduling, cost control, and quality conscious with an emphasis on driving cost efficiency and evaluating supplier performance. The candidate must understand business, strategic sourcing capability, and leadership to deliver operational excellence while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
Responsibilities
Purchase and Procurement:
- Lead the end-to-end Procure-to-Pay process for direct and indirect materials and services and reduce cycle time, improve accuracy rate of purchase orders, and compliance rate with procurement policies.
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize supplier performance, cost, and delivery timelines. Elevate cost efficiency, supplier performance evaluations, and punctuality metrics.
- Lead supplier evaluation, finalize contracts to achieve the best value and risk mitigation through Number of contracts finalized, risk assessment scores, and contract compliance rate.
- Engage with cross-functional teams (Operations, Finance, Quality, and Planning) to coordinate procurement activities in line with company targets. Cross-functional partnership, to drive business through joint initiatives.
- Drive supplier development and relationship management, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation. Supplier development index, innovation contribution from suppliers, and continuous improvement initiatives count.
- Conduct scheduled supplier evaluations to ensure Thermo Fisher s business practices, safety, and quality benchmarks are aligned and implemented. Frequency of supplier evaluations, compliance rate with safety and quality benchmarks, and corrective action implementation rate.
- Watchful of price trends, forecast cost impacts, and recommend proactive measures to remain cost neutral. Accuracy of cost impact forecasts, number of proactive measures implemented, and cost index.
- Coordinate with intercompany factories and logistics partners to ensure timely deliveries and availability of documents. On-time delivery rate, coordination effectiveness score, and document availability rate.
- Review open purchase orders, assess critical deliveries, and guarantee timely material availability to prevent procurement bottlenecks. Open purchase order aging, weekly critical delivery rate, and on-time material availability rate.
- Attain yearly sourcing cost efficiencies by implementing value engineering, exploring alternative sourcing avenues, and finalizing contracts. Sourcing savings, CI projects and alternate sourcing initiatives count.
Planning Inventory Management:
- Develop and maintain inventory control systems to optimize stock levels and optimize working capital by implementing data-driven inventory planning tools to enhance stock management accuracy.
- Work closely with Operations and Demand Planning teams to ensure accurate forecasting and timely material accessibility.
- Lead initiatives to reduce inventory holding costs and improve inventory turnover rates.
- Identify bottlenecks and resolve supply chain constraints, ensuring demand forecast is delivered.
- Ensure strict adherence to Thermo Fisher s ISO and EHS compliance standards in all procurement and inventory activities.
Analytics and Metrics:
- Develop and lead crucial metrics such as supplier Timely Delivery (TD), Line of Total Cost (LOTC), lead time reduction, and cost savings.
- Prepare and present comprehensive monthly and quarterly procurement performance reports, identifying risk areas and recommending improvement actions.
- Conduct detailed cost variance analysis and implement corrective measures to ensure budgetary compliance.
- Provide data-driven insights for Sales Operations Planning (SOP) to enhance forecast accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Support internal audits and ensure that process documentation adheres to global procurement standards.
Qualification Experience
- Bachelor s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, or Business; MBA/PGDM in SCM or Operations preferred.
- 8-10 years in strategic procurement, sourcing, and supply chain management within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience in leading supplier negotiations, cost management, and contract lifecycle management.
- Exposure to global sourcing and vendor development preferred.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Proficiency of SAP MM Module, ERP, WMS, and MS Office tools.
- Proficient in material planning, inventory management, and data analytics for decision-making.
- Proficiency in developing suppliers and drive process improvement initiatives.
