Duties:

1. Clinical

• Examine patient s medical records. Keep accurate records of patient visits, diagnosis and treatment.
• Responsible for oral examination/ diagnosis and routine cleanings on patients to clean teeth and remove plaque.
• Diagnostic procedures eg., intraoral radiograph interpretation
• Fixed and removable prosthodontics, endodontics and orthodontics
• Conduct tooth extractions, fillings and root canal procedures, surgical extractions, implants and cosmetic dentistry.
• Applying teeth whitening treatments.
• Biopsy of oral cavity lesions/ minor tumor removal
• Prepare patients for treatment (e.g. by applying oral sedation or local anesthesia)
• Check teeth, gums and other parts of the mouth, along with X-rays and tests to diagnose dental problems.
• Correcting bite issues and overcrowding.
• Management of odontogenic infections and diseases through pharmacological means and incision and drainage
• Prescribing medications for dental problems, such as pain medications or antibiotics.
• Ordering diagnostic measures, such as x-rays, models, etc.
• Using tools, such as drills, probes, brushes, or mirrors, to examine and treat teeth and mouth.
• Educate patients on preventive dental care and oral health care.
• Perform surgeries on diseased tissues and bones.
• Meeting with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, perform regular cleanings and other preventative procedures, and establish a plan for better dental hygiene.
• Educate patients on proper brushing techniques, flossing and fluoride use.
• Promote good oral health and preventive dental care (e.g. by scheduling regular check-ups)
• Stay updated on patient care, new technology and new products that can improve or treat patient conditions or improve overall health.
• Keep all certifications, registrations and insurance current accordance with national laws and regulations.

   • Writing orders for investigation and treatment in close coordination with the Consultants (recognizing and working within the limits of one s clinical competence while ordering).
   • Providing proper counselling to patients and keeping them well informed about the treatment and results.

3. Abiding by the hospital rules, protocols and standard practices.
4. Organizing preventive dental programs and screening camps as organized by the hospital from time to time.

1. Academics
   • Keeping abreast of the latest medical information through continuous medical education, formal education and personal professional development.
   • Taking active part in the academic program, including all clinical and non-clinical presentations.
2. Reporting: Directly to Medical superintendent and indirectly to HCOO.
