Job Title: Data Governance Implementation

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Data Governance Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will work with the Data Governance Leader and Collibra Product Owner to implement and manage the Collibra data governance platform for AJGs Global data assets. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of data governance principles, strong technical skills, and can effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Data Governance:

• Develop business and technical metadata, definitions, and lineage in Collibra
• Facilitate and document data elements, definitions, transformations, calculations
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and maintain data security protocols
• Implement best practices for data handling, storage, and sharing to protect sensitive information
• Monitor and ensure the ongoing health and performance of the Collibra platform
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in data governance

Technical Skills:

• Analyze large datasets using Collibra, SQL, and other technologies to identify and profile data
• Support data quality efforts by profiling source data, defining data quality rules, and performing root cause analysis
• Establish and document procedures to harvest and curate data assets
• Collaborate with tool vendors on product(s) functionality to maximize our usage of the capabilities within the product
• Ability to design and deploy workflows in Collibra to aid in processes and governance activities

Communication:

• Guide data owners, stewards, and custodians in the use of Collibra
• Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions
• Provide training and support to end-users on Collibra platform functionalities and best practices

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of Collibra experience
• Proficiency in SQL, data analysis, and profiling tools
• Strong understanding of data governance, data management, and data quality concepts
• Familiarity with data governance, data privacy, and security best practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with many stakeholders
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
• Experience with foundational source systems and metadata management
• Ability to document technical attributes, business descriptions, and data lineage
• Agile delivery, including user story grooming and sprint planning, development, and user acceptance
• Collibra Ranger certification is a plus
• Experience with other data governance tools and frameworks is a plus
• Relevant certifications, such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or similar is a plus
